The cow is nature's answer to urban stress

Urban life today is hemmed in by stress, anxiety, depression and loneliness. Constant screens, a fast daily routine and a growing distance from nature have weakened our mental balance. At such a time the answers offered for mental health often stop at medicines and digital therapy, while a simple and natural remedy has always been present around us: the cow.

Scientific research shows that spending time with calm and affectionate animals raises the level of the hormone oxytocin in the body, which reduces stress and creates a feeling of safety and emotional connection. Sitting beside a cow, stroking her, or spending time with her in quiet surroundings settles the mind naturally.

The cow's calm nature, her unhurried movement and the natural surroundings around her reduce the restlessness of the mind. This is why animal-assisted therapy is now regarded across the world as an effective means of mental treatment. In India this idea has long existed in our gaushalas by tradition, and can be understood today as "gaushala therapy".

In the digital age, loneliness has become a serious problem. In a bond with a cow there is no expectation and no judgement: only peace and belonging. That very experience strengthens mental steadiness and emotional balance.

This is not merely an emotional claim. It is a fact tied to neuroscience and psychology that natural touch, contact with calm creatures and a connection with nature are essential for mental health, and the cow is the natural, living meeting point of all three.

The peace we have lost in the rush of the city has a name: the cow.
